Gunther Central Perk’s Blondies

NO. They’re not directly mentioned or referenced in the show. BUT! As soon as I tasted one, I just knew this would be something in the display stand at Central Perk.

Maybe one if the treats Joey gave away to a pretty customer.

Maybe an item Rachel sneezed on for a rude customer.

I. Don’t. Know.

But I do know, that I would love to be perched on the orange couch, feet thrown up on the coffee table and snacking on one of these bars surrounded by my friends.

They are also ridiculously easy to make! And you probably have all the ingredients without making a trip to the store!

Such a win, this recipe.

You’re going to mix the butter and brown sugar (sinful. I could just eat that concoction alone.), then add the eggs and vanilla, then the flour and salt. Stupid easy.

Dump it in your greased pan. (Smear your butter stick over your baking dish before you throw it in the bowl to melt. Easy.)

Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over top. BAKE.

SOOOOOO GOOD. My husband says these trump brownies. Literally, guys, brownies have been his vice as long as I’ve known him. These. Trump. Brownies.

Not the best photos you’ve ever seen on a blog, but I’m telling you, these are sooo gooooood!

Here’s what you need and how to make them… it now!

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease your baking dish
In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar together
Add beaten eggs and vanilla, stir until combined
Stir in flour and salt until combined
      Dump mixture into baking dish
Mix cinnamon and sugar together and then spread evenly over mixture in baking dish
      Bake for 25 minutes
Let cool before cutting because these are gooey and need to set up a bit. (Test center with toothpick. Bake for longer time if it doesn’t come out clean)
  • They’re very, very, veryyyyy good warm, though. So maybe cheat a little and snag one before they’re completely cooled.

If you make these, tag me in your photos on Instagram! @shorthairsandlongnaps

Have a great day and I hope you love these blondies as much as we do!

    Chandler’s ring toss bagels

If you want to skip my shenanigans, you can find the bagel recipe used HERE

Remember when Joey is avoiding Rachel, and when she shows up at Monica and Chandler’s apartment, he drops a bagel on the floor as he’s running to hide?

Then Rachel asks if they were playing a naked bagel ring toss LOL

I’ve made these bagels three times now, and every time I’m shaping them and punching out the hole in the middle, all I hear is Joey saying “I don’t know, it’s kind of small” hahaha

Now, these bagels are sourdough bagels, which are AMAZING. Soooooo, if you don’t have a sourdough starter, I don’t know how to tell you to do this differently, but I’ll link the original blog post where I found my recipe!

These bagels are SO. DANG. GOOD.

My husband is a mega fan. Like, wants them weekly kind of fan. And they’re really not that hard to make, just slightly time consuming.

I made everything bagels & cheddar cheese bagels the first time. So. GOOD.

The second time, I caramelized onions & chopped bacon to make these super boujee bagels. Ya know, something I feel Monica would’ve totally made. I added cheddar cheese to these, too. I thought they were kind of a flop. They were a little gooey and not very pretty. My husband, though, LOVED them. Like, loved them hard.

Third time. Just plain bagels and some cheddar cheese topped ones. I’m sick of making bagels at this point, but my husband keeps asking for them.

Here are some photos of the bagel making process, just because.

My favorite step is watching the dough hook and I have no idea why. It’s so satisfying to watch, especially once it’s all combined.

Ahhhhhhh, the dough hook. Just doing it’s dough hookin’ thing. Look at you go. Fulfilling your life’s duty. Kneading that dough into the perfect bagel dough consistency. Proud of you, you overachieving dough hook, you.

I also love the splash of olive oil, twist the dough to coat, ordeal. I like to pretend I’m a bagel shop owner or something official like that. Taking my daily bagel dough prep very seriously.

    Covered, resting, rising.

HELLO PRETTY, FLUFFY DOUGH BALL. See my pretty utensil crock? Look familiar to anyone?

    Shape and boil!

When I made the onion/bacon ones, they sank. I just boiled them till they popped to the top and that worked well.

Takin’ a little hot tub dip before hittin’ the tanning beds. Do you think they’ll count Mississippilessly? Or will they end up an 8?

Egg washed & some got cheese

Stephanie’s Bagel Shop ad photo. What do you think?

Again, find the recipe HERE and let me know if you make these!

    My Unusual Potty Training Must-Haves

Does anyone actually enjoy potty training? I doubt it. I mean, it truly isn’t as bad as I expected, but it’s still not enjoyable.

It’s a commitment, and takes the primary focus of your days, BUT I know it’ll all be worth it in the end.

We are three days in and it’s going much smoother than I anticipated. I have a couple must haves that are making my life easier, and I want to share them in case anyone else is planning on doing the potty training thing soon!

    1. Training Underwear

Okay, so you’re probably thinking “how does underwear make your life easier?!” Also, this is no SO unusual…… BUT. The training underwear is on the thicker side, so it contains the mess of accidents better than typical underwear, but also, still feels uncomfortable when wet.

I worked in childcare many moons ago, and learned to hate pull-ups, because they simply act as another diaper and prolonged the potty training process. From my personal experience, anyway.

    2. Kindle Unlimited

Hear me out!! I love kindle unlimited for myself and my reading habit, BUT it is also filled with kids books, INCLUDING kids books about potty training!

We’ve read vegetables in underwear, super pooper and the potty story so far. But I’ve got a bunch more loaded on my kindle app for when we’re in there long enough for a story.

Sometimes he goes right away, but then sometimes he doesn’t want to sit, so we read a couple pages of a book! It’s been working really well for us.

    3. An Alexa Device

Again, hear me out. We started by sitting on the potty every 15 minutes. We increase that time by 5 minutes every day. (Stayed at 20 for two days in a row though) I LOVE my echo because it makes setting the timer a breeze.

Throughout the day, sometimes I lose track of my phone, or get side tracked quickly by other things. Setting the timer on my phone is out of the question.

My echo is centrally locates, so I simply say “Alexa, set a timer for 20 minutes” and it’s that simply.

Truly, I’m pretty sure echos were created for mothers who need an assistant for all of the days daily tasks. (Lol)

This is the one I have mounted on my living room wall and is the one I use to set the timer for potty training.

This is the one I have in my kitchen. I truly don’t know what I did without this in my kitchen before…..hands free recipe searching, measuring questions answered and my kitchen karaoke game is off the chain thanks to the words being right on the screen.

Have you done the deed of potty training?? Did you have any unusual items that made the process a little less stressful?? Let me know in a comment!

    Banana Bread Coffee Cake

I love using my oils for baking and cooking, and I LOVE finding new recipes to use in.

This banana bread coffee cake is DELICIOUS, and uses Young Living’s cinnamon bark vitality and Young Living’s Thieves vitality.

So good and the oils add the PERFECT amount of spice to this sweet, sweet bread.

It’s not picture perfect, but your stomach doesn’t care about presentation.

This recipe is very easy to whip together, but the bread needs to cool for awhile before transferring from pan to cooling rack. (More on that later)

First, peel and mash 3 very ripe bananas.

I will not eat a banana this ripe, so putting them in bread is the only way they’ll get used once they end up looking like giraffes.

    Once mashed, add brown sugar.

3 drops each of cinnamon bark vitality and thieves vitality

A healthy splash of vanilla (this is my favorite vanilla!)

Then place the banana mixture to the side.

Now, you’re going to whip the sugar and butter into a sweet stupor.

Add the eggs and whip it real good

Add flour, baking soda and salt (which I apparently forgot a photo of that step) until combined and then add banana mixture.

Pour into two greased bread pans and set aside

Mix together flour, cinnamon and brown sugar in a separate bowl

Use a pastry cutter to mix in cold butter

Once it’s all mixed and course looking, it’s reading to add to the bread

Spread mixture evenly between the two pans

Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until knife comes out clean

I only had one survivor because I tried to dump the other one out before it had cooled enough. The crumb topping makes it very top heavy, so it separated and fell apart. Still delicious! But not photo worthy.

We ate it for breakfast this morning, with a little butter and a side of homemade apple sauce. YUM.

If you make this bread, tag me in your photos on Instagram! I’d love to see your creation @shorthairsandlongnaps

The easiest, most delicious crescent roll veggie pizza

THIS VEGGIE “PIZZA”, GUYS! You’ve gotta make it, right now, tonight, tomorrow, whenever but SOON.

Right now, we’re all staying home, trying to stay sane, fighting the munchies, trying to be healthy, and while this might not truly be considered healthy, there’s veggies on it and it’s delicious.

So, I say, HEALTHY (enough) lol and look how pretty it is!

First, roll your crescent rolls out onto a cookie sheet. Lay them rolled flat and against each other, we’re thinking pizza here, friends.

Bake according to instructions on the can.

Wash and chop your veggies while the crescents are baking.

Add cream cheese, ranch packet, dill, sour cream and whatever other seasonings tickle your fancy. This isn’t rocket since! Throw your own blend in there and then let me know if it’s any good so I can try it, too.

    Mix all the goodness together.

Once the crescents have baked and cooled, spread the cream cheese on them, add your chopped veggies and WAH LAH. Seriously delicious. Seriously easy. And we’ll call it healthy.

I used carrots, red and yellow bell peppers, cucumbers and broccoli. YUM. But just like with the seasonings, make this your own! If you don’t like broccoli, leave it out or add something else. That’s the beauty of cooking, in my opinion.

    • 2 tubes of refrigerator crescent rolls
    • 8oz cream cheese – softened
    • 3 tablespoons sour cream
    • 1 ranch packet
    • 3 tablespoons dill
      1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
      2 bell peppers
      2 heads of broccoli
      1 cucumber
      3 large carrots
    1. Roll out the crescent rolls on a baking sheet to form the pizza crust
Bake according to instructions on the tube
      Wash and chop your veggies
Mix together softened cream cheese, sour cream and seasonings
Once crust has baked and cooled, spread cream cheese mixture over crust
      Add veggies

    DIY Coffee Scrub

Quarantine day 537318374639. Or at least so it feels, right?? Have you ever seen that Disney Christmas cartoon with Huey, Duey and Louey where they wish it was Christmas everyday, it comes true and then they’re over it?

That’s how I’m feeling. But like, a perma Saturday.

Anyway, I read a post that claims not washing your face one night, ages your face 7 days, and that made me panic immediately because I’m the worst with skincare. (I read it online. I don’t know if it’s true)

So, I immediately took to Pinterest to find a DIY coffee scrub. My skin has been feeling really rough and dry, and I drink coffee every day, so I figured a coffee scrub was my best bet.

All ingredients mixed together – see how wet it is? Yeah. It’s not supposed to look like that

DISCLAIMER: I didn’t read the instructions properly, you’re supposed to dry out your grounds. It worked fine how it turned out, but I’d do it the right way next time.

So, I just dumped my used coffee grounds from that morning into a glass bowl. What you’re SUPPOSED to do is spread them on a baking sheet to dry out or place in the oven on a very low setting until dried. #knowbetterdobetter

First, I mixed in about 2 tablespoons of honey with the coffee grounds.

I only recommend using Young Living Essential Oils. If you use another brand, I cannot endorse the safety or the results of scrubbing them onto your skin

Second, mixed in 5-10 drops each of Young Living’s lavender essential oil, YL tea tree EO, YL patchouli EO

Last, 3-5 pumps of Fractioned coconut oil.

Again, here is my watery concoction all mixed together. Smelled amazing, though
Scrubbed my neck, too. I was about to scrub my whole body lol
Felt sooooo good. I added more.
Not a visible difference besides the coffee grounds in my teeth

Okay. So the visual difference in the pictures is zero. BUT in real life and the feel of my skin, WOW. It’s amazing. I’m definitely going to try to do this monthly.

I’m thrilled with it. I don’t know if my husband is just a suck up or if he meant it, but he said my skin looks amazing lol

If you’ve got coffee grounds, honey, fractioned coconut oil and the best oils on the planet, what’re you waiting for?! Make this now! Your skin will thank you.

If you don’t have the ingredients, I’ll include links to all the stuff I used below……

Okay, so if you’re not a Young Living member, grab your Premium Starter Kit HERE ! There is lavender and frankincense in the PSK, which are skin loving maniacs! Add tea tree and patchouli to your order if you want to grab the exact ones I used. I’m out of frank, or I probably would’ve used frankincense over patchouli in my scrub.

This is my favorite fractioned coconut oil! It comes with a regular cap, a shampoo bottle style cap and a pump cap. The pump cap, in my opinion, is the easiest and most convenient to keep on the bottle.

Fractionated Coconut Oil USA Premium Therapeutic Grade 16 Ounce Liquid Carrier Oil for Aromatherapy Relaxing Massage and Diluting Essential Oils with Pump and eBook

I used one of my Pyrex bowls because they’re glass, have a great fitting lid and I just use them for anything and everything. I had a bunch left over so I threw the lid on and will use the rest in a couple weeks.

Thanks for reading, friends! And happy scrubbin’!

    Social Distancing Approved Hugs

Today, on what feels like day 1,000 of quarantine, I’m missing my dad and my grandma most of all. I miss the comfort of knowing their doors are always open and that I can call them on my way over and be welcomed.

I also really miss wondering around target, but that’s a different level of quarantine sadness.

Anyway, today I decided to send them a little love in the mail. I’m not a hugger unless it’s my two year old, but I stumbled upon these adorable, mailable hugs and decided to craft them up for two of my most missed people. PS. If you’re reading this and know either of my people, don’t tell them these are coming.

    Social distancing approved hug

These are so quick and easy to make! And so cute!

Start by tracing those sweet little baby hands.

I used card stock, traced the sweetest little fingers and then cut out handprints.

I traced his hands once and then used the originals as a template.

    Measuring his wing span

After he colored the traced hands, I measured the distance of his arms because it has to be an accurate little love bug hug.

Not really, though. You can do whatever length string you want because, honestly, I’m surprised he cooperated for this.

If you’re doing more than one, get one length and use it for the others. Toddlers attention spans, amiright?!

    Mailable hugs!

Then I simply attached the string with tape, stuck them in addressed envelopes and WAH LAA. Hugs being shipped to my favorite humans.

I hope you’re all staying happy and sane in this weird phase of life!

If you make these social distancing approved hugs, tag me in your posts on Instagram! I’d love to see them! 🙂 @shorthairsandlongnaps

    Hi, friends!

I am playing around with creating printables and decided to make myself a quarantine to do list.

Lists help my 7w8, very blue brain focus on what I need to do. I HATE lists with a passion, but if I don’t have one, I will start 3264859 projects and finish 0.

I’ve got a lot of purging to do

Anyyyyyyway, I’m sharing the printable with you lovelies as well!

If you print it out and use it, tag me in your pics on Instagram so I can be encouraged by your productivity! Lol @shorthairsandlongnaps

    Quarantine 2020 to do list

    Friends NYC pop-up

The Friends Pop-up in New York City was, without a doubt, an amazing trip that I am so blessed to have been able to experience.

For anyone who went, or anyone who didn’t have the chance, or maybe didn’t even know it was a thing, I’m writing this post to share this great day with you.

In case you’re just reading my blog for the first time, let me introduce myself. My name is Stephanie. I am a 27 year old, life long friends fan, due to it being my mothers favorite show.

With 2019 being its 25th anniversary, and the popularity its received from Netflix, I have just been LIVING for all the Friends merchandise, memorabilia and experiences that 2019 brought us.

I am born and raised in Pennsylvania, but always dreamed about an apartment in New York, filled with friends and late night Chinese food straight out of the containers.

After being to New York, I can confidently tell you, that is not the life for me. But I’ll still enjoy the cozy fantasy of it every now and then.

So, now you’ll journey with me down memory lane, and the day I got to breathe life into that friends fantasy for just a moment.

New York is amazing, though. I can’t wait to go back to visit.

Before we get started, I went on this trip with my dad and my brother, both who are not fans of social media exposure. I’ll be blurring them or leaving them out as much as possible, just out of respect of their privacy.

We took the train to New York, which I am SO glad we did. After seeing how people drive in New York, I would’ve had a heart attack. We did a lot of walking and it is BANANAS how people just walk out into the street. We did a lot of following the crowd.

I’m going to keep this strictly pop-up, but give a brief overview of our day because our ticket time was at 4:00 pm.

We went on a boat tour, which was AMAZING. It was my dads idea and I’m so mad it wasn’t mine. It was much more entertaining, emotional and exciting than I imagined. I selfied with the Statue of Liberty. It was great.

The buildings are huge. I mean, you see photos, you know they’re going to be huge, but they’re really freakin huge.

We stopped for lunch and the first place we stumbled upon (we were lost, sick of walking and starving.) It was a pretty expensive burger, but what do you expect in New York?

They had paper straws, though. Loved that.

    Ahhhh, my friends.

My dad was a last minute addition, so we didn’t have a ticket for him. He decided he didn’t want how (grown, adult) children wondering around New York without him. And I’m so glad he came along.

But since he didn’t have a ticket, we assumed he wouldn’t be able to come in. WRONG. They had a standby line that they stuck us in. It was for people without tickets, and as someone didn’t show and they had space, they’d send you in.

I’m getting emotional. This was so amazing.

This wall was amazing and I wish I could’ve got a picture of the whole thing.

Our first photo op!!! They took this photo and emailed it to you.

Inside was so much memorabilia, photos, quotes and TVs (obviously) playing friends.

The photo ops were definitely my favorite part

Okay, maybe the memorabilia was my favorite part

I loved seeing all the items from different episodes.

They also had outfits and areas dedicated to each character.

I just realized I didn’t get photos of Phoebe or Joey and now I’m second guessing if I saw everything.

You ended your tour in central perk.

You could buy coffee and a random assortment of treats themed from the show.

And we all for free travel mugs!

    “Money for Joey’s headshots”

Coffee in Central Perk. What a dream come true.

How cute is this travel cup? With Bloomingdales in the background.

    “My mom calls it bloomies”

Once we were finished, we went to the pop up shop. They had so much amazing merchandise! I wish I could’ve bought it all.

I did convince my brother to buy *my son* a hugsie, though.

It was a long day and a short experience, but it was worth every moment. If anything, I feel like I didn’t savor it enough.

Now I have some questions for you!

    • Have you been to a pop up?? (NYC or Boston)
    • Have you been to the friends fest in London? (DREAM TRIP)
What’s your favorite episode?! Mine is the one where Ross finds out. Cliche but ugh, love it

Lets be friends on Instagram! @shorthairsandlongnaps

Here are some of my other Friends themed posts:
